“While on assignment in Abu Dhabi, I knew my time there would align with the December solar eclipse, and I did everything I could to arrange a time to experience it in the best place possible, Liwa. Being that I wouldn’t get this opportunity again, I excused myself from work that morning and drove deep into the desert for 2 hours with no place in mind—letting my instinct guide the way. Once I found the perfect spot, I hiked up a pair of dunes, which quickly got tiring (considering the gear that I was carrying). On one camera, I set up a time-lapse, and as I waited, I captured this moment on another. As someone obsessed with the sun and moon, it was an incredible way to end the year. To have this moment completely come together, both personally and for my work, is something so special. I genuinely believe that moments like these are once in a lifetime, and I’m super thankful to freeze this moment in time. If I had not been practicing photography for all of these years and learning all of my settings, I would have missed this moment for sure. My advice for beginners is: master the art of shooting manual and learn to adapt fast! Knowing your gear is so important, so you don’t miss moments like these.” ? @aljvd?Liwa, Abu Dhabi, UAE ??
