Torii gates are a common sight in Japan. But do you know what they symbolise and there’s a correct way to pass through them? ⛩️? Torii gates are often seen at the entrance to Shinto shrines and are said to mark the boundary between the ordinary world and the sacred ground. The correct way to enter is to bow once before the torii gate, and it’s also customary not to walk through the exact centre of the gate either – walk a little to the left or right. ?
