The Village with the Gorge
Gjógv is the most northern village on the island of Eysturoy. It is named after this 200-metre long sea-filled gorge that runs from the village into the ocean.
The gorge is one of the best natural harbors in the Faroe Islands. But storms can hit even the safest harbours and boats need to be pulled up on a ramp to keep them safe from the heavy surf.
