Natural beauty

As with other mountains in Indonesia, here it also contains active sulfur. Even when you reach the peak, you will find many workers who are taking sulfur.
For those of you who come far from outside cities such as Jakarta, Malang, Yogyakarta and Wonosobo, if you don’t want to have trouble coming here, you can take a vacation package that has also been offered by several tours and travels in Banyuwangi.
This tour and travel also provides reliable guides, of course.

Around this tourist spot, there are also several inns or hotels if you want to spend the night here. There are types of lodging ranging from homestays, villas to star hotels.
You can also see the beauty of the scenery here from various social media such as YouTube, Kaskus, Instagram, Facebook and others.
In East Java Province itself, apart from Mount Ijen, there are still many active mountains. Call it Semeru in Lumajang, Dien in Bondowoso and Bromo in Probolinggo. This is a paradise for nature lovers.
Here, apart from being known for its amazingly beautiful scenery, it is also known as Blue Fire which means blue fire. According to the official Wikipedia 2020 website, the mountains that have blue flames in the world are only in Indonesia and Iceland.
Road to Location

The route to Mount Ijen itself can be reached through two routes, considering that it is located on the border of two districts, namely Bondowoso and Banyuwangi.
First, if you take the Banyuwangi route, you will pass the Licin sub-district which can be calculated as about 15 km from the city center. Going to Banyuwangi itself if you are from the direction of Surabaya then you can pass Jember, Situbondo and also Baluran.
The road to Licin is in very good condition at this time. The local government has renovated it considering that several years ago it was still damaged. After passing Licin, the next route you have to continue to Paltuding.

Well, starting from Paltuding, the climbers begin their adventure to the top. The distance traveled is approximately 3 kilometers. Normally you need a 2 am walk. The path when passed is like a caldera trail and cliffs.
For the second, this route if you depart from Situbondo then go to Bondowoso, namely Sempol via Wonosari, then you will arrive at Paltuding. This route can also be traversed by motorized vehicles such as two and four wheels.
If you pass this route, you will meet two other tourist attractions, namely Wurung Crater and Bajul Mati Waterfall. If you leave during the day, you can come to this tourist spot. The roads traversed here are also in very good condition.

This route will also display quite beautiful scenery. Left and right you will find coffee trees and pine forests. The distance from Situbondo to Paltuding itself is about 93 kilometers or 2.5 hours.
You can go to Banyuwangi from Surabaya via Bondowoso or Jember. Along to Mount Ijen, you will encounter a sulfur truck. The road here is made of asphalt and the same goes up and down, so you have to use a vehicle in good condition.
It is not uncommon for foreign tourists to come to Banyuwangi after a vacation from Bali Island. Banyuwangi itself is very close to Denpasar or Bali by sea at Ketapang Harbor. It only takes 4 hours by road to arrive in Banyuwangi.
Hiking trails

The climbing journey will start from Paltuding, this can be said of the first post. This post is from Perhutani at the foot of Mount Merapi – Ijen. An uphill road of about 2,400 meters is already beginning to appear. The adventure will start from here.
Then, when you arrive at the crater rim, you will be given a very amazing view before your eyes. From above you will see a green lake with a diameter of 1 km. The scenery will be filled with fog and smoke from the sulfur.
During the climbing trip you will come across workers looking for sulfur. They climb this mountain every day to take sulfur and then give it to a cosmetic company.

At the top, your journey is not over. Continue onto the blue flames and continue to the northern peak.
If you want to be close to the lake, then you have to go down the rocks with caldera cliffs. Don’t forget to bring a wet handkerchief to cover your nose from sulfur fumes.
Mount Ijen itself is open from early morning to noon, which is around 12. Because during the day the smoke content here is not good for human health. For those of you who have poor health such as heart disease, asthma or others, you are prohibited from climbing.

Lots of people who come here with the disease don’t make it to the top, even causing casualties. They forced them to keep going up, when they arrived at the top, they were not strong with sulfur fumes and finally died.
Prepare physically well. Before leaving here, you better exercise at least 2 weeks beforehand. Small runs or roads at least 5 km away can be done. Bring sufficient drinking water and other climbing equipment.
