How beautiful is this onsen town in the winter? ?
❄️❄️❄️
Higashiyama Onsen (東山温泉), established over 1,300 years ago, is a hot spring resort in a valley just east of the downtown area of Aizu Wakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture. It is said to have been founded by the Buddhist priest Gyōki and is recognized as a historical onsen village with sodium-sulphate hot springs. Today, it is listed among the top three onsen towns of old Tohoku.

One of the guesthouses, Mukaitaki, with history dating back to the Edo Period, is registered as a tangible cultural property. It has massive appeal with its natural flowing hot spring, high cultural value, and 24 guestrooms each built differently. The view of the lit-up building at night is the representative landscape of he historical Higashiyama Onsen. The snow candles that color the courtyard are an especially famous sight in the winter.
