“Gokarna in Karnataka is a holy place in Hinduism that has attracted increasing numbers of tourists in recent years to its lovely beaches. However, on a day such as the one when I took this photo, you can see that the tourists and locals have found a way to live with love towards one another. The village came together this day to celebrate the wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati, a traditional ceremony where temple Gurus marry idols of each deity. As we sat on the beach and waited patiently, I noticed these ladies, like others, looking to the sky. A cloud had formed in the shape of a lingam, the symbol that represents Shiva in the Hindu traditions of this region of India. Everyone went so silent, all you could hear were the waves rolling onto the beach.
