History of the Land of Tingal
Tanah Tingal has been established since 1985. The owner of the 10 hectare forest is the former Minister of Information (1968-1973) and the Indonesian Ambassador to Spain and Cambodia, the late Boediardjo.
The word “Tingal” itself is taken from the name of a village in Magelang, Central Java, which is his birthplace.
Initially, the area which was used last year to hold the “Family and Culture Festival” was only used as a family residence. The soil is contoured red and filled with approximately 10,000 kinds of trees. So that the surrounding atmosphere is very cool and comfortable.
But, as time went by and his growing love for orchids, Tingal Orchid was created, a land for cultivating this flower in the 1980s.
His great concern for plants and the environment made him give up his land as an urban forest. It functions as the city lung as well as an ecosystem for the living things around it.
Not only that, Tingal Park is also used as an education and training center for students, employees and professionals. In June 2007, the Tanah Tingal School for Kindergarten (Kindergarten) and SD (Elementary School) was established.
Based on information from Ennie D. Satoto, the current manager, the idea emerged based on Boedihardjo’s concern for the development of modern children who could no longer socialize with the environment because their activities shifted to instantaneous and closed things.
