Medini tea garden is located on the northern side of the Ungaran mountains, Semarang, Central Java, with an altitude of 2,050 m above sea level.

This area is an area of Kendal Regency. With an area of about 386 hectares, this garden has existed since 1901 during the Dutch colonial era.

In the north the tea garden is directly adjacent to the city of Semarang and is located not far from the Gonoharjo Limbangan hot spring.

Not far from the Medini Tea Plantation agro tourism, there are also other tourist attractions that must be visited. The spot is almost the same as Medini, which is presenting natural beauty that is not only beautiful and attractive but also impressive.

The tourist spot is Curug Lawe. The waterfall around Medini Tea Plantation is different from Curup Lawe in the Kalisidi area. The similarity between the two is only from the name.

Curug Lawe, which is near the Medini Tea Plantation, can be traversed on foot because of the winding road conditions.

From the entrance ticket to the Medini Tea Plantation agro-tourism, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Curug Lawe.

However, in Curug Lawe you have to be careful because there are still many wild animals roaming around such as leeches, gareng pong, monkeys and maybe snakes.

Besides that, there is also Curug Medini, this waterfall is not so well known by its name when compared to Curug Lawe.

The road route is different from the route to Curug Lawe which is slippery and winding. Access to the Medini waterfall is quite easy to pass because it is relatively flat and not too far from the park which is usually used as a camping area and vehicle parking.

The Medini waterfall has three sources of flow with different water heights.

In addition to natural tourism, the Medini Tea Plantation area also has historical tourist attractions, namely Promasan Temple.

Although now only ancient shrines, there are still ruins that used to be temple structures such as Ringga, Arca, Ratna and Jaladwara.

When viewed from the remaining ruins, it can be estimated that this temple is a relic of ancient Hinduism.

It is estimated that this temple also has a connection with the Gedongsongo temple which was built in the 9th century during the Syailendra Dynasty.

But the local people call this statue the Watu Gajah. This is due to its large size.

Not far from this place, there is also a relic during the Japanese colonial period, namely Goa Jepang.

The entrance to this cave is not very wide, but once you are inside, the place becomes wide and tall. On the left and right of the Japanese Cave, there are rooms of Japanese heritage.

It is recommended that when entering Goa, you must bring a lighting device such as a flashlight or other lighting device, because it is quite dark inside.

Apart from Medini Tea Plantation, you must also try to come to other agro-tourism places, namely Merbuh Rubber plantations, Small Getas in Singorojo sub-district and Sukomangli coffee plantations in Patean sub-district.

Existing Facilities

In this agro-tourism there are also quite adequate facilities such as bathrooms, parking areas, lodging, camping areas and prayer rooms for worship.

The journey to Medini Tea Plantation is not as easy as going to a tourist attraction in the middle of the city. Because the roads are standard tea trucks, not luxury cars.

Although the L300 car can also go up as well, it is recommended that visitors use two-wheeled vehicles or jeeps and the like.

If from the city center of Semarang, you can go through the Jrakah-Boja Market road by going through the Mijen sub-district then Cangkiran.

From Cangkiran sub-district, go straight until you reach Rejo Park then turn right, you will go to Boja sub-district.

After arriving at Rejo Park, you will enter the Medini area, where the roads are rocky and uneven. The trip can be taken for approximately 1 hour.

The distance covered is approximately 48-50 km from the city of Semarang. When using a private vehicle, it is recommended that the vehicle is fully fueled.
