A brief History

In local historical records, the Bowontehu Tribe has been in this place since 1623. Previously, this place was known as Manarow, which is the home of a tribe that is also included in the Sangir Tua Ethnic.

Apart from these historical records, it turns out that there is also a historical legend on this island. Another version records that Manado Tua was first inhabited around 1339 by a family group that possibly brought six family members.

This group is known in history as Humansangdulage, Maasela, Bawuisang, Ondoasa, Ondosila, and Patimasari. Humansangdulage is a man and is the father of Bawuisang. Meanwhile, Bawuisang and Patimasari are married couples.

This husband and wife have three children named Maasela, Ondoasa, and Ondosila. They are a member of a family from the town of Batu in Mindanao, Philippines. They fled from the city in a wooden boat because of a war.

Unfortunately, when they sailed to Manado Tua Island, there was a big storm at sea which then made the boat beaten by a violent storm. They were stranded on an uninhabited and previously unknown island.
