Although the area is small, Jepara has a very beautiful nature. There are at least 20 natural attractions with a pleasant atmosphere in this Carving City. Judging from the name Songgo Langit Waterfall looks unique as well as the story.
The story of a legend in Jepara’s Songgo Langit Waterfall
The legend circulating in the community has nothing to do with the name Songgo Langit. It’s about the place. Once upon a time, there was a virgin from Tunahan Village who fell in love with a girl from Dukuh Sumanding, Blucu Village, Kembang District.
The two then married, living together in the house of his wife’s parents. However, one day the wife was preparing breakfast for her husband. During the preparation, the wife was inadvertent in making kitchen utensils touch each other, causing a loud noise.
Because of that, the wife’s mother reprimanded her child, she said “Ojo glontangan mundhak bojomu tangi mengko” (don’t be noisy, your husband can wake up later).
But, the husband misunderstood what he heard was “How come you are cheating, your rumors are really your friends” (how noisy work, you think it’s your husband’s luggage).
There was a misunderstanding between the man and his mother-in-law, eventually taking the wife away at midnight to the man’s home village (the husband). Then the husband took his wife out in the middle of the night using a cart pulled by a cow.
Since the trip was carried out in the middle of the night, it must have been so dark that the cart that was taking them was misdirected. Then fell into a very deep abyss. Well, the location where the cart and the couple fell is the location of the Songgo Langit waterfall.
Until now, it is not known where the cart is and the fate of the couple in it. It is believed by the spirit community that these two people are the guardians of this area. Residents believe their spirits maintain security, safety and comfort for visitors there.
This is because visitors are guests who must be respected and protected by their safety and comfort. From the legend, a taboo or prohibition emerged between the residents of Tunahan and Blucu villages to establish love, especially until marriage.
Because, it is feared that their domestic life will occur or will not be happy. That’s a little story of the historical mystery of the Songgo sky waterfall tourist attraction.
