Lots of foreign tourists come here. Moreover, what they really want to visit is Ijen Crater. Yes, this crater is at the top of Mount Ijen. This place is on the border of two districts, namely Bondowoso and Banyuwangi.
The crater of Mount Ijen does not only provide a beautiful view on the top. There is also something else and of course you can’t find it anywhere else, namely blue fire. There are only 2 blue fire in the world, namely Indonesia and Iceland.
What’s the complete story like? This article will discuss in full, starting from the route that must be taken to how much the entrance ticket costs here. Please read in full.
Potential Beauty

The phenomenon of blue fire here makes a special attraction for tourists. They want to see blue fire firsthand with the story that there are only two in the world, one of them is here. Famous to foreign countries by having very high acidity water.
The crater water here is Tosca green with a very high sulfur content. Smoke releases toxins that can be said to be harmful to humans. Therefore tourists if they are climbing to the top are expected to be careful.

Because the smoke contains poison, local officials forbid visitors if they have a history of illness such as asthma, heart disease and stroke. However, sometimes there are also many tourists who hide their pain, causing casualties. In fact, not a few people died when they reached the top.
If you want a hike trip to get views of blue fire and sunrise, it is recommended to leave at night. For this reason, visitors who come from outside the city do not worry because in the vicinity of this tourist spot, lodging is provided.

You can find various types of lodging such as villas, homestays and even star hotels. Access to vehicles is also quite good because renovations have been carried out by the local government. Of course it is different from the previous one whose roads were very damaged.
Before arriving in the Paltuding area you will pass the forest route. It is said that the forest here has a mystical or mysterious story where accidents are also frequent. When the rainy season arrives, the road here is sometimes slippery.
Mount Ijen itself is also surrounded by other tours such as Wurung Crater and Mount Raung. When you come here, we suggest that you don’t forget to bring a camera. Because it is very unfortunate if while on vacation you do not capture the moments that occur.

After taking this photo, image or video, don’t forget to share it on social media. This will also help promote pretty good Indonesian tourist spots. For example, on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or others.
Road to Location

Mount Ijen itself is located on the border of two regencies such as Bondowoso and Banyuwangi. So the alternative route to this tourist spot can be passed in many ways. The terrain for road trips using motorized vehicles is also very good.
For the first route, if you depart from Banyuwangi, you have to pass through Licin sub-district. From the city center of Banyuwangi itself, it has about 30 km distance. Road conditions can be traversed by two or four-wheeled vehicles.

From Licin sub-district itself to Paltuding it usually takes about 1 hour. Paltuding is a rest area for tourists who are preparing to hike. Here is also used as a parking area for visitors’ vehicles.
After arriving at this paltuding, then start the climbing journey to Mount Ijen. The distance covered is about 3 km to the top. Normal time usually takes 1 hour. But because the road is quite uphill, tourists usually spend about 2 to 3 hours.

The second route is through Bondowoso Regency. You will go through an area called Sempol via Wonosari. After that we will arrive at Paltuding. This route can also be traversed by car and motorbike. The road provided is also very good.
There are also many alternatives to get to Bondowoso or Banyuwangi. From Bondowoso you can use a bus that will pass through other districts such as Probolinggo. Meanwhile, if you go to Banyuwangi, you will pass Lumajang and Jember Regencies.

Because tourists who come also from various cities and abroad such as Yogyakarta, Wonosobo, Surabaya, Jakarta Bandung and others, an airport is provided in Banyuwangi itself. The local government has also facilitated tourists for a vacation.
For those of you if you find it difficult to find a route here, we also provide coordinates and then connect it to the GPS application on your cellphone. Later this coordinate point will provide directions like an online map. Don’t forget to also connect to the internet network.
Open What Hours
Mount Ijen is not open for 24 hours. Usually climbing is open from 24.00 to 09.00.
Why is that? Because when it is above 09.00, the crater smoke itself is dangerous if inhaled by humans. So we suggest coming at night.
