Founding Story
This location is on land with an area of about 170 hectares, built starting in 1975 and inaugurated by the Minister of Education and Culture in 1988.
In 2001, the status of the Lampung Museum organization management officially changed to the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) under the auspices of the Provincial Education Office.
The inscription of “Sai Bumi Ruwa Jurai” in the official logo of Lampung Province, later on, was pinned as the name of this country’s museum.
The meaning of these two words is the two stems of the line of descent of the population in Lampung, namely natives and immigrants (transmigration).
This museum is a place for various relics of the Sriwijaya Kingdom, such as bodyguard armor, Tulang Bawang inscription, cannons, traditional clothing. There is also the legacy of Radin Inten, the hero of Lampung.

There is also an iron ball that was used by the community to open land for transmigration in 1953-1956.
The museum management manages the entire collection properly, especially so that it is not damaged, hit by fire, or lost.
They employ about 50 employees to maintain and manage the Lampung museum.
The building with an area of 4,713 m2 is divided into several rooms, namely exhibition space, library, collection storage, administration, audio visual, auditorium, hall, preparation workshop, laboratory, fumigation.

Tourists, both foreign and domestic, are welcome to visit the Ruwa Jurai Museum at any time.
The building is open to the public every day, except Monday and public holidays.
On Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday-Sunday, the building is open to the public at 08.00-14.00 WIB. Meanwhile, for Fridays it opens at 08.00-10.30 WIB.
Visitors are also not asked to pay expensive rates when visiting, adults only pay Rp. 4,000 while children pay Rp. 500.
