This Cibodas Botanical Garden area is actually a legacy of Dutch colonialism in the 1850s. Then, Johannes Ellias Teijsmann, a curator from the Netherlands, built the Cibodas Botanical Garden which was formerly called Bergtuin te Tjibodas 11 April 1852.
Initially, the construction of this garden was for the acclimatization of various types of plants from abroad which were important and had high economic value. Then, it developed which was named the Cibodas Botanical Garden Hall Branch.
Furthermore, every 11 April is celebrated as the day the founding of this Botanical Garden. On that date there is usually a privilege, namely the entrance ticket to this attraction is free. Visitors do not need to pay an entrance ticket.
In 2003 its status was more independent because as UPT (Technical Implementing Unit) of the Plant Conservation Agency under the Deputy of Biological Sciences, LIPI (Indonesian Institute of Sciences).

As a conservation area, of course this tourist area has greenhouses that are used to protect various types of plants. Starting from orchids, cacti and various plants that will become extinct.
The greenhouse holds more than 4000 plant collections, namely 350 types of cacti, 360 types of orchids and various other unique plant variants.
There is also a sakura house that offers views of the Japanese garden. So, you don’t need to go all the way to Japan to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossom garden. Whereas in fact, the cherry plants can only live in the land of 4 seasons, but in this Cibodas botanical garden, the sakura can thrive.
This is due to the location of the garden at an altitude of more than 1400 m above sea level. Thus, the habitat is suitable for cherry blossom growth. In Japan, the cherry blossoms can only flower once a year, namely in April when it is spring there.
But if this area has a tropical climate, it flowers twice a year, first in January – February and the second in July – August. Come during these months if you want the best views.
There are more than 300 variants of cherry blossom plants, but in Cibodas there are only 7 variants. That’s because the climate in Indonesia shouldn’t be the true cherry blossom habitat. Although 7 variants, including a good achievement.
The next spot is Cibereum Waterfall which is located in the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park area. The height of this waterfall is about 1675 meters above sea level and the water is about 50 meters high, especially in the rainy season.

You can also enjoy a neat stone walkway from the guest house to the large pool. In Cibodas Botanical Garden, the stone path is called arauvaria aveneu. Including an impressive spot because on the left and right there is an Araucaria tree which has been strong since 1866, meaning that it is 150 years old.
Not only the cherry blossom garden, you can also see the view of the moss garden which is overgrown with about 235 types of moss.
Rhododendro Garden is a garden that has various types of flowers from several countries such as Indonesia, Japan and China. The scenery is so beautiful, you must have fun when you are there.
In addition to the stone path, you will also find that the waterway is a flow of water from the Cibogo river, Mount Gede. The water is so clear and cold that is why the garden manager makes fun rides for children to play.
