According to local residents, this tourist attraction is an artificial lake that was excavated in 1980.

Initially it was used to work on the Belawan-Medan-Tanjung Morawa (BELMERA) toll road construction project which was inaugurated around 2006.

Lake Siombak has an area of ​​about 40 hectares and a diameter of 1000 meters with a depth of up to 15 meters. This place is very much like a giant lake because of its enormous size.

But the beauty of Lake Siombak is not from its shape, but from its calm and quiet atmosphere.

Siombak Lake is located on Nippon Street, Paya Pasir Village, Medan Marelan District, Labuhan Deli Village, Medan City, North Sumatra, Indonesia.

The road to get to this area is not too difficult. You only need to follow the main road Marelan Raya, then go straight until you pass the Marela Tax.

If you have arrived at the Gate of the Chinese City Museum, not far from there you will find a gate with the words Welcome to Lake Siombak.

After meeting the gate, you will see 2 roads forked. One above that and one below. Nippon Market Street is below, from the arch to the right.

While the other Jalan Danau Siombak is located above, namely from the gate to the left. Even though it is called Jln.Danau Siombak, the road does not lead to a tourist location but to the site of the Chinese City Museum.

So the right road is Nippon Market street. After that you just go straight to the end, you will see Lake Siombak.

From the big post office of Medan to Lake Siombak is only about 18 km. From that point, head towards Belawan and take the Yos Sudarso road.

After arriving at the intersection, turn left and then go straight until you find Nippon Market street. Then if you have entered the road, go straight until you see Lake Siombak.

According to history, Lake Siombak has existed before the formation of Medan City. It is said that the area is an agricultural area used by residents.

Then in 1986 Bekho’s troops destroyed the land and in an instant the residents’ agricultural land became a giant puddle of water.

In the past, the Lake Siombak area was the site of a Chinese city. This Chinese city is the origin of the city of Medan.

The city of China was a prosperous kingdom and had an international port inhabited by Chinese immigrants.

According to legend, the old town of China was destroyed by a curse. About 25 hectares of its territory were buried, because troops of kepah or some kind of shells attacked the city. However, the sinking of this city is still a mystery to this day.

At first the local people worked as farmers, then turned into fishermen. During the 5 meter deep dredging, relics of the old Chinese town were discovered.

His remains include plates, jars, a statue of Lord Shiva, and coins bearing the year 800 AD. This coin dates back to the Tang Dynasty in the 10th century AD.

In addition, what is still left is an old temple building that was found close to residential areas and is a relic in the 11th century AD

After the incident, the relics of the Old Chinese city were found. Lots of local residents flock to look for these relics and some have found an ancient ceramic.

From all the data collected, the objects found in the area include the large Buddha statue, Laksami statue, ceramic fragments.

And there are also bricks from the Sung Dynasty at the end of the 10th century to the 13th century AD, and Yuan in the 13th to 14th century AD.

Some are in the form of relics such as chisel stones in the shape of a rectangular prism which has a height of 50 cm, a top width of 30 cm, a bottom width of 40 cm, with a stone thickness of 23 cm.

From the past until now these ancient objects are still stored in the North Sumatra State Museum.
