Furthermore, on 7 October 2002 its function was expanded to become a Conservation Forest without leaving its function as a Tourism Forest. Therefore, based on area mapping, this area is divided into 4 areas, namely: Recreation Park Area, Conservation Forest, Camping and Outbound Area and Lake and Swamp.
Because of its function as a Conservation Forest which is a vehicle for education and research as well as supporting cultural activities, making this place during the holiday season is visited by many students and students who intend to study and conduct research as well as various other activities related to flora and fauna.
According to data from the manager, the Punti Kayu Forest is overgrown with various types of plants and inhabited by several types of animals. The types of flora here include pine, acacia, mahogany, talog, pulai and several other types of plants.
While the types of fauna that occupy the forest area consist of monkeys, herds of long-tailed macaques, civets, lizards, several species of birds and rare insects that do not yet have scientific names.

The forest, which has an area of 39.9 hectares, was once called Taman Sari and Taman Syailendra, and was popular in the 90s to early 2000, before finally sinking due to the emergence of a number of new tourist attractions.
Considering that Punti Kayu’s potential is large enough to bring in tourists, a number of efforts have been made to restore the glory of this tourist attraction, one of which is by adding more rides and facilities for visitors.
